How to play Russian Solitaire
Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Russian Solitaire. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Look at what changes after your first action. Identify the playing area and the controls you need. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.
Yukon-style deal, same-suit building, no stock. Free solo play, no wagering.
A careful first round
Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Use the example to check your reasoning.
Your goal
Build four suit foundations from ace to king. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Start with a deliberate move.
Step by step
- Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
Controls
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.
A useful example
A heart 6 fits a heart 7, not a spade 7. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Choose a deliberate next step.
Watch out for this
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
