How to play Dominoes
Start Dominoes by looking at the playing area and its controls. Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Treat the first round as a chance to learn the controls. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.
Double-six draw dominoes, local two players with shared-screen visible hands.
Try a deliberate move
After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Use the example to check your reasoning.
Your goal
Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. The example below illustrates a decision.
Step by step
- Play a tile matching either open chain end.
- Choose which end to use.
- Draw only when no tile fits.
- Pass only with no legal tile and an empty stock.
Controls
Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Use the control method described here for this activity. Look at the feedback after the action.
A useful example
An open 4 accepts 4–2, leaving 2 open. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Take a moment to compare.
Watch out for this
You cannot ignore a legal match to draw. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
