How to play Fishing Challenge

Choose a round of Fishing Challenge and settle into its rules. Land as many fish as possible in five casts. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Look at what changes after your first action.

Five-cast timing/tension game, no bets or purchases.

Read before acting

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your goal

Land as many fish as possible in five casts. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Follow this game’s rules rather than another version’s.

Step by step

  1. Cast and wait for BITE.
  2. Hook promptly.
  3. Hold Reel for progress.
  4. Release to lower tension.
  5. Land the fish before it escapes.

Controls

Cast and Hook; hold Reel or R; Space casts/hooks. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. A new-round button replaces the current round.

A useful example

Alternating reeling and release avoids snapping the line. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Look for the relevant detail.

Watch out for this

Early hooks, missed bites and excessive tension lose a cast. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
