How to play Hangman

Hangman gives you a focused activity to play in your browser. Find all letters before eight incorrect guesses. A correct guess does not reduce the remaining allowance. Look at what changes after your first action. Check the rule that explains your first action. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Step by step

1. Read the clue and note the number of hidden letters.
2. Select a letter on the keyboard or type one on a computer.
3. Repeated correct letters are all revealed together.
4. Finish the word or start another round.

Controls

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Look at the feedback after the action.

A useful example

In LETTER, choosing T reveals both T positions. It uses no incorrect guesses. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Take a moment to compare.

Watch out for this
